While we are not a Montessori school, we utilize Montessori materials and incorporate aspects of Maria Montessori’s philosophy.

Acton Academy Frisco bases enrollment on age not on grade level. We currently serve ages (5-13 years old). Each year we will expand the ages we serve by one additional year, so our program will grow with our oldest learners. We have three studios, Spark (5-7 years), Discovery (8-11 years), and Adventure (11 yo- 13 yo).

Someone who can research questions, follow instructions, solve problems—admit that they don’t know something and figure out a solution when they hit a roadblock without asking an adult for help — participate in discussions, and strive for mastery.

We believe that children learn best when working with peers who are both younger and older than themselves rather than with groups based solely on age. In addition to self-paced and an individualized curriculum, all ages of students work together in groups.

We believe each of our students will find a passion — something they love and have a gift to do. They will use this gift to serve others and fulfill a need they are passionate about in the world. This may be by becoming a shoe-shiner who tells stories and makes people’s day just by doing his job with love and vigor; it may be by becoming a coach who sees the light in a child’s eyes and guides her to pursue a dream; it may be by becoming a father or mother who leads a family on a Hero’s Journey; it may be becoming an entrepreneur or business leader guided by compassion and integrity; or it may be by becoming an artist or writer who brings beauty to people’s lives.

Yes, we are accredited through the International Association of Learner Driven Schools.

Our commitment to serving our families begins with receiving transparent feedback. Each quarter we survey both parent and learner to rate us on how well we accomplish our goals and live up to our promises. We share these results with the community. These surveys are our most important metric to measure the success of the learning community.

Our goal at Acton Academy is to inspire and equip our students for any endeavor they choose to pursue after high school, whether it be starting their own enterprise, seeking employment, or attending any selective university. Acton Academy Frisco believes fostering and developing self-discipline, independence, and grit are very important elements to a successful learning experience in college. With respect to the admissions process, we can only imagine what it will look like in the future as it is currently in flux as the more selective universities are moving away from standardized test scores. Our heroes will graduate with a transcript, GPA, and a digital portfolio that will reflect their diverse learning experience, including their development in creativity, innovating, entrepreneurship, leadership and public speaking experience, special projects, authored books, essays, presentations, 360 peer reviews, and problem solving experience.

We operate on a ten month calendar, comprised of 5-6 sessions followed by one week “rest” breaks. The yearly calendar works with the natural ebb and flow of mental and physical energy required for learning, with giving time to rest after 5-6 weeks of working hard. Our summer break is approximately 8 weeks. Our calendar also allows families to travel together during the year, without sacrificing any learning. We do not take attendance, you may be excused from school at any time. To view our current academic calendar click here.

Tuition for the 2026-2027 school year is $12,440 for the four day per week schedule (Monday-Thursday) and $14,306 for the five day per week schedule (Monday-Friday). A one-month tuition deposit is due at the time of enrollment or reenrollment, along with the annual $350 curriculum fee, both of which are non-refundable.

We are a faith-neutral school. While we expose children to the importance of mindful spirituality and stress the historical importance of various religions to the development of civilization, we do not promote any one set of beliefs outside of the beliefs found in the United States governing documents.

Lord John Emerich Edward Dahlberg Acton (1834-1902) was a Victorian scholar of Freedom who saw liberty not as a license, but as the freedom to do what was right. He was suspicious of power for the sake of power, which led to his most famous quote: “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” At the Acton Academy, we celebrate his defense of economic, political and religious freedom.

We believe that each of us has a special calling in life, and a series of trials and tests that must be faced with integrity and purpose, in order to live a satisfying and fulfilled life. Our mission is to prepare your child for his or her special journey.

We believe in liberty and justice and the ideals of the American revolution as the cornerstones of civilization. In addition to experiential learning, we will study the American documents and the true meaning behind them, as we examine other cultures and forms of government.
